He warned them. Repeatedly. Kakashi didn’t want a genin team. Kakashi had no idea of what to do with a genin team. He was self-aware enough to know he wasn’t quite right in the head. He should not be trusted with a bunch of children.
But did the Sandaime hear him? No, because the Sandaime wasn’t Minato-sensei and the old man never listened to him. And he went ahead with the brilliant idea of saddling him with his dead sensei’s son, Itachi’s little brother, and a kunoichi who was so much a cannon fodder that she had a literal target on her bright red dress.
He would not be blamed for the shitshow that was about to start.

Kakashi only knows how to teach three things: survival, assassination, and pretending to be normal. Good thing that's exactly what his cute little genins need to learn. And if they also learned how to be a family in the process, well, that's just a bonus.

Summary
Thatch had a rough night, from being betrayed and tried to kill by one of his brothers, to being saved by his other brother, dead and never forgotten. But, to repeat, a dead brother. And if anyone asks Thatch why he grins hysterically, he does: Marco got out of that world to save his ass again. Oh, and Thatch mentioned that Marco looks like a kid of about fifteen, or maybe that kid knocked out a New World pirate, the whole "D.", and then turned to him and started lecturing him on the safety of the whole ship? No? Well, Thatch had a very rough night.
Or, where Marco dies, can start life from scratch, but he comes back to them.

Summary
Much like anything else in his life, waking up beaten and battered in a world not his own had not been his choice. A staggering experience, certainly, especially considering he had not expected to wake up in the first place. But there is something to be said about new beginnings, be they intended or accidental, especially when there was no world for him to be going back to.
Peace was a faraway dream for Kurosaki Ichigo. But Pirates, running rampant on seas not his own, were famously known as dreamers, letting very little get in the way of stopping them. In a world as colourful as bizzare as this one seemed to be, what other choice was there but to get swept away with the madness, and learn to find himself along the way once more?
And if he finds people along the way willing to take him into their fold? Well then perhaps he would find people he could protect; and this time, he would keep them alive.
