He knows it when he kisses Satine’s hand and gives her a small smile, like the two of them know something others don’t, and he feels the room grow heavy. He knows it when he glances at Cody, however briefly, over Satine’s shoulder, and Cody is looking straight ahead. He knows it when Cody pulls back, returns to formalities in the presence of the duchess, and his aura is no longer saturated with softness.

Cody fumbles his helmet off and tucks it under one arm, hovering mid-air in front of the tower’s balcony. He’s a professional, he reminds himself.
“Hi, I’m Cody,” he says, keeping his hands and shoulders relaxed; some of the captured royals can be a little skittish at first. “I’m here to rescue you.”
The man in the tower just laughs, and the sound is as delightful as his singing had been.
“Oh, that’s very kind,” the prince says, his madder blue eyes twinkling. “But I’m quite alright, thank you. Have a good day.”

Summary
When Obi-Wan Kenobi is called on to complete an undercover mission to discover Separatist involvement on a neutral resort planet, Cody volunteers to help him—not realizing that the planet is exclusively designed for romantic partners. Never one to back down from a mission, both Obi-Wan and Cody agree to pose as a couple for as long as it takes to uncover the Separatists' plans for the planet.
There are... several problems with this. Cody has never even kissed another person before, let alone been in a romantic relationship—posing as his General's husband will somehow be easy, hard, and impossible all at the same time.
For the Republic, right?
