    Summary

There’s nothing wrong with the smile. It’s not one of the terrible, toothy ones Connor had given in their first days of knowing each other. It’s subtle, and looks like it fits on Connor’s face—like it folds right into the fabricated creases.

It doesn’t look right on Connor.

(Or: Amanda quietly wins on the stage. The thing piloting Connor’s body is not Connor. Hank will stop at nothing to get him back.)

Connor is possessed by Amanda. He tries to blend in at first, but Hank can tell that something is off. 'Connor' schmoozes everyone around himself, while dropping the facade in order to tell Hank to cut it out or else. Hank loses his job, loses his credibility. Meanwhile, androids are dropping into a 'sim addiction' which is actually just a virus form of the Garden handler program that houses Amanda in Connor. Finally, with Kamski's help, Hank is able to exorcise Amanda out of Connor and together they release a 'cure' to the sim.

    "Why do humans gamble?"

Characterization is on-point, descriptions are poetry without feeling heavy-handed. This author knows when to use words and knows when to hold back, and they do both to great effect. You can read so much into what a character is thinking by what the author refrains from saying, or by how they choose to say it.

Featuring Hank, Amanda, North, an ST300 from the station, Josh, Markus, Kamski, two Chloes, Sumo, a little bit of Gavin, and more background characters.

Be content aware: This is chock-full of violence, body horror, bodily fluids, gaslighting, psychological horror, malicious technopathy, and more. It's not for the faint of heart, but it's so very good of a read. Not in spite of the mentioned content, but because of it.

    Summary

Due to their prototype deviating on its first mission, the RK800 series is immediately discontinued and dismantled. Newly woken up in the junkyard with a will to live and actual wants and desires, Connor cobbles himself back together with no mission in place. What does Connor want to do? Might as well give this detective thing a shot.

Featuring Connor passing as human at the DPD I present… 5 times Connor was almost revealed as an android + 1 time he was

A 5+1 where Connor deviated after The Hostage and he starts working at the DPD disguised as a human. He makes friends with the officers and learns to be a human, with 5 (ish, a few more really) close calls where he almost gets found out as an android. It's sort of a sliced up and reordered retelling of the events of the game with some changed characterization, including but not limited to: a raid on Zlatko's, Eden Club, The Bridge, investigating Carlos Ortiz' house (the first investigation in the game, with the deviant in the attic), and Russian Roulette (not in that order).

The final +1 is actually two incredibly long, incredibly GOOD conclusion where Perkins shows up with the RK900 and Connor's secret is out in the open. What follows is Hank's feelings of betrayal, Connor on the run and ending up meeting Kara, Alice, Markus, North, etc at Jericho, Connor getting recaptured by the RK900 and memory wiped/factory reset, a sequence of regaining his memory like Kara does in Zlatko's, and finally Markus' Demonstration and Connor (and RK900 "Nines") at the Cyberlife Tower.

It starts off feeling cheesy, like a typical 5+1, but it sticks the landing as a favorite.

    Bookmarker's Notes

Multimedia story covering the aftermath of PHM, starting when the Beetles are first detected entering the solar system. Told through narrative text, audio transcripts, tweets, reddit threads, emails, and more, and spanning more than 30 years, this tells the story of Earth fixing the Astrophage crisis, learning of the Eridians’ existence through Grace’s data, and all of the space agency politics that come with it. Soon, catch up to the late 2080s as Ryland finally comes home.

This story has an army of OCs large and small and they are canon to me now. This is the most grounded, realistic version of events I could have imagined, and it captures Weir’s tone of voice with uncanny accuracy. It’s heartfelt, hilarious, and very scientific. Instant favorite.

    Summary

"What sounds more likely to you? It's not a trick, I'd genuinely like to know what you think. Is it more likely that you were bitten by a radioactive spider on a field trip, and that by some miracle this didn't kill you, instead gifting you with fantastical abilities, or that you witnessed something deeply tragic and extremely traumatising — traumatising for anybody, but especially so for a child — and your brain formed this fantastical world as a way to cope?"

Peter doesn't answer. Around the lump in his throat, he can't. He sets his jaw, but a hot tear rolls down his cheek anyway, followed by another, and another.

    "I'm not crazy," he whispers.

"Of course not, you're simply unwell."

    ~~

When Peter finds himself in an unfamiliar place, with no memory of how he came to be there, they tell him he has relapsed. They tell him Spider-man is just a character he invented to cope with trauma, that everything that has happened to him over the last two years is a figment of his imagination.

    But Peter knows the truth.

    Doesn't he?

Peter wakes up in a mental hospital and is told that he's been imagining everything Spider-Man–related. He just had a relapse after having made progress, which is why he can't recall being in this hospital before right now. It's difficult to impossible to discern truth from fiction: is he mentally ill and he's here to get help, or is this whole place an illusion keeping him from his real life?

Soon, a vision of Tony (the Tony that Peter remembers from his life as Spider-Man) begins visiting Peter and reinforcing his "delusions". He says Peter's in the medbay being cared for, that none of this is real, that Peter's doctor, Dr. Lake, is actually Quentin Beck.

Will Peter be able to escape? Is there even anything to escape from or to?

Incomplete, updated rarely, but not abandoned.

Tadashi wakes up after the fire as a kitsune, a fox spirit. He's present through the events of BH6 as a guardian to Hiro, even though he can't be seen. Crossover with ROTG, Tadashi eventually becomes the Guardian of Trust.

Sequel: Nightmares are running rampant through San Fransokyo and the rest of the world, marking the return of Pitch. Tadashi gains his first believers, including a young girl in a garden in the city and also Fred — both can see him when he's a fox but not when he's shifted human.
