Summary
It’s much too obvious, in hindsight. Apparently most things with Siffrin are.
Nobody had thought twice about him being slow to wake no matter how much he slept; about how he used Craft to make up the time, not interrogating what could possibly be making him fall behind in the first place. They’d accepted the times when he chose sleep over exploration, sleep over idle chats, sleep over snacks.
They’d had enough pieces of the puzzle. They just hadn’t put them all together. Yet again.

Short and small, neat and well put together, tired and professional, with perfect posture and a quick, impatient stride. He looks like he works in an office. He looks about a decade older than Martin. He looks important, and dignified, and hot. In that very particular way that Martin’s always been into.
Not that… not that attractiveness should have anything to do with picking a meal. Oh, it sounds bad to call people meals. Victims? Even worse.
Martin should in fact not pick this man, specifically because of how attracted he is to him. It would be the responsible thing to do.

As far as anyone else knows, Ringo is dead.
As far as anyone else knows, the reason why Maguro has stopped coming to class consistently is because he's in mourning. While the world didn't stop revolving just because his best friend is gone, anyone who'd been around them while they were together agreed it felt unnatural not to hear them whisper-yelling at each other during class.
Maguro knows better, though.
Maguro knows that Ringo's still alive. She doesn't remember how to talk but that's okay. He's the eldest child in his family, he can figure something out.
She doesn't remember who she is, either. That's also okay. She will. She has to. He just has to wait.
He can wait.
