Summary
After a hit and run leaves Buck without his memories, he wakes up in a hospital alone. Meanwhile, the 118, fractured by loss, realizes too late that Buck has disappeared right in front of them.

Ravi is the one who finally voices what they are all thinking. “I can’t believe Buck could have been missing for seventy two hours and none of us realized.”
No one argues with him.
They are all painfully aware of how fractured the team has become since Bobby’s death. The station no longer carries the warmth and ease it once did, even as it now bears his name. They had been lost in their own lives and their own heads, and somewhere in that quiet unraveling, Buck slipped through the cracks.

The horizon was no longer empty. A ship cut through the mist—massive and black, with its metal sides slick with frost. Smoke bellowed upward from its smokestack, an oily smear against the pale sky. The ship slowed as it approached, shadow falling long and dark across their fragile ice floe.
The engines hissed, then went quiet. Then a head popped over the rail. An older man with silver hair peered down at them, his face kind, as he called out, “Hey, you kids need some help?”
