Something about this guy makes the little hairs on the back of his neck stand up. It’s the smile, the unwavering fixation of his gaze, and an unsettling sense of familiarity Vergil can not place. It activates his fight or flight response.
“Someone’s in a bad mood, huh?”
“You seem remarkably interested in my business.”
The guy doesn’t even flinch. He laughs, tips his head back, and holds Vergil’s gaze for what feels like an eternity.
Vergil meets an obnoxious teenage boy on the metro after a grueling day at his nine-to-five office job. Things take an unexpected turn.

After their return from the demon world, Vergil moves in at Devil May Cry, and Dante is overjoyed. However hard it was before, that doesn't matter, now that he has his brother back. He'll even admit to himself, if not to Vergil, that he's giddy in love like a schoolgirl.
When Vergil is around, that is. Whenever he leaves, Dante falls apart.

I keep coming back to this. Yes I'm a sucker for canon rewrite and this is just really hits all the spots. It scratch that part of my brain. Dante being protective, Vergil being stubborn and Nero shrugging at whatever fuckery his parents had done... this is just mwah, chef's kiss. Thank you author.
