Summary
In the first year of his banishment, Zuko overhears a fragment of his uncle’s words and mistakes pity for betrayal. Determined to chase a possible lead on the Avatar alone, he leaves his ship behind and disappears into the Southern sea.
He never reaches his destination.
Instead, wounded and half-frozen, he is found by the warriors of the Southern Water Tribe and brought into a village that has every reason to fear him.
There, Zuko is no longer a prince. He is a nameless boy with one golden eye, too dangerous to trust and too young to abandon.
And Katara, the chief’s daughter, is the one person he is forbidden to want.
But some bonds begin before names, before truth, before either of them understands what they are reaching for.Bookmarked by SweetN0things77

Summary
“May I interest you in a cup of Oceansong, Lady Huamei?” He rasps. His voice is pointedly clear, a showcase: she is a lady at a formal party, and he is a tea server.
Katara tries and fails to stifle her snort. “Oceansong?”
“I didn’t name it.” He glares at her, good cheek reddening.

Summary
His one eye burned fiercely into hers, his iris molten gold as only the Imperial Family’s were. In it she saw villages reduced to crumbling skeletons wreathed in flame, torchlight of some epic destruction; she saw the blaze of a funeral pyre, her mother wrapped in furs now only ash upon it.
It's a political arrangement. Most likely the best thing Katara could hope to do for the war effort. Not a surrender, an alliance.
If she had to give up her freedom for the lives of her people, so be it. She would dress the part, suffer the scorching heat of the Fire Nation climate, and assimilate into the culture of her mortal enemies. She would even lie with their prince.
She would never, ever, fall in love. Her heart was the one thing she had left—she would guard it with her life.
