Jeongin shuffles closer and sticks his hand out. “Hi,” he whispers, grabbing the puppy's attention. It stops to look at Jeongin, sitting still to get a good look before sniffing his hand. How cute. How could anyone abandon a puppy this cute? Jeongin tries to look positive as the puppy tucks its head under his hand, using its front paws to balance itself on his knees.
“Do you live here, little guy?” Jeongin laughs. It's not like the puppy can answer him though.
Or, maybe it can.
It gets off of Jeongin briefly to nose at the door, then back at his hand, cycling until Jeongin figures out what it's trying to communicate.
What a smart puppy. Whoever abandoned it is missing out.
or, Jeongin finds himself with a rather unusual puppy. Surely, taking care of it will be easy, right?

“I said.” Jeongin takes a step closer to him. He has one hand in his pocket. “Kneel.”

Seungmin falls to his knees without a second thought.
He doesn’t– he doesn’t know why. Before he can try to stand back up, though, Jeongin is moving closer to him, taking his chin in one hand. The other is still in his pocket. “Good boy, hyung.”

“Y-you–”
“Me,” Jeongin says, full of self-satisfaction. He smiles, and it comes across cruel. “You didn’t realize, hyung? The click is your trigger. Every time you hear it, you do what I say. Isn’t that something?”

Summary
By every available metric, Yang Jeongin is a well-adjusted adult.
He pays his rent early. He has a ten-step skincare routine. He calls his eomma weekly. He writes on his coworker's birthday cards. He has never once raised his voice in a meeting, even during the Hot Churn Summer of '25, where a fourth of their client list decided to all end their contracts in the same quarter, and the founder was grilling him for reasons beyond his control. He is, by broad and sincere consensus, one of the nicest people at the company, a genuine delight, sweet sweet Jeongin.
And then Kim Seungmin walks past his desk, and Jeongin has to quickly close the browser tab where he was researching how long a body takes to decompose in a server room.
