Summary
Bilbo Baggins steps in front of the wrong confrontation and pays for it in chains. Sold at the slave markets of Gundabad, he refuses to become what this place intends to make him. Through cunning, stubbornness, and a fury he didn’t know he possessed, he survives long enough to catch the attention of someone far more dangerous. Now he belongs to Azog, and the rules are simple: fight, or die.

Thorin Oakenshield has been in the mountain for months — fighting, enduring, keeping his expectations low and his feelings lower still. He does not intend to let anyone in.
