The worst case scenario comes to pass, and all of Lucina's nightmares are fulfilled. Chrom falls, Robin ascends, and there is nothing to stop the revived Fell Dragon from once again laying waste to the world.
Except, hold on a moment. Validar didn't have the real Fire Emblem. None of this should be possible in the first place. Were the Grimleal simply wrong about the requirements for Grima's awakening? And if they were wrong about that, then what else might they be wrong about?
Quite a lot, as it turns out. Lucina has a very bad day, and funnily enough, so does Validar.

The night sang a low hum as the two stared up at the sky. They were looking for the red. Any drop of red seemed to send them into the fear all over again. Menthol handled it better, as he had to see it much more than she did. She couldn't look at it much.
"Menthol."
He glanced back at her, quietly waiting for her to continue. Sometimes he wouldn't reply to her, as if he was scared of speaking. She used to think he was fearless, invincible. So very smart and brave. And he was, but now she knew he was almost just like her. The thought didn't comfort her like she thought it would.
"The stars are beautiful tonight."

Not officially, Amy has been staying with them for a while now, but no one else has seen them. Amy brushes off all questions, and no one thinks twice. This is far from out of the ordinary. The brothers go on off-grid adventures all the time. Then, when Knuckles comes back after two months, Amy has a new scar. Large claw marks down her face. Her excuses for where Sonic and Tails are paper thin, and Knuckles can't give her the benefit of the doubt any longer. He takes Rouge and goes to the house for answers.
It's worse than they could have ever imagined.

The convict- Simon.
His name was Simon, and some part of Ava hated that she knew it now because the Convict was a criminal, a murderer - a Butcher, some said.
But Simon - Simon - was a person, who had parents and had a childhood, and had a voice that shook and quivered and broke as it yelled at her through a shitty microphone - "You sent me to die down here, and you don't even know my name?"
And Simon was clever, and Simon's amalgamated ship of spare metal had somehow moved off their plotted map, and yet he had found the coordinates for the lost SM-8 and had begged her to set him free for it's data.
Simon - the one responsible for the destruction of the Filament Station, the one who's life was in her hands - was an enigma of data versus emotion in her brain.
Simon wasn't talking.

The Chaotix didn't exactly "talk it out" after the Metal Virus came and went. They didn't shed any tears over it—at least, not in front of each other. Like everyone else, they just treated it as a story to tell and moved on with their lives.
A week after the incident, however, one mundane problem spirals into an outburst of pent-up emotions. Espio and his friends will have to look their trauma in the eye, whether they choose to or not.

As the doors start to shut, Espio feels like the world is collapsing around him. Everything slows to a stop, the people crying around him silenced. It doesn’t feel real. Nothing had felt real for a long time.
A buzzing fills his head. Every instinct screams at him to run, to save his family, to do something useful. He’s only been dead weight, he hasn’t saved anyone. Distantly, he feels his legs moving on their own. And suddenly, they push off of the ground, his body running to reach Vector.
“VECTOR!!” He cries, reaching his hand out.
He locks eyes with Vector as he hears Gemerl release the door. He can’t move his arm in time.
Crunch.
OR:
Espio reacts just a tad bit faster when Vector sacrifices himself.

The first thing Espio noticed were the bright painful fluorescent lights above head. Even seeing them through his squinted eyelids was giving him a headache. The next thing he noticed was a muffled high-pitched ringing in his ears that drowned out any other sound that could be around him. The third was that there was a device on his face. Getting the urge to swat it off, the forth thing was how heavy his limbs felt and how they felt strangely numb. The ringing sound faded a little and started letting in a cacophony of noise: a constant beeping, Ringing telephones, people speaking so many people speaking. Saying many different things all overlapping each other drowning each other out but still smothering his ears.

Espio ended up in the hospital, somehow. He should maybe not be awake for this.
Author thinks there should be more Chaotix fics and decided to make one herself even though it's pretty short
