Summary
After narrowly surviving Phantylia's disaster, Foxian merchant Tingyun is rescued by Mydei, the stern king of Castrum Kremnos. She calls him "Benefactor" and kneels excessively, but he treats her as an honored guest, massaging her sore legs and refusing her offer to repay him with her body. Mydei sees through her defensive smiles, recognizing her exhaustion from a lifetime of pretense. As they grow closer, he reveals his own harsh past: abandoned as a child, he survived alone in the wild and rose from a common soldier to king. This shared experience of self-made struggle deepens their bond. They become lovers, and Mydei promises to be only hers, learning to cook for her and gently combing her hair and fox ears. Tingyun writes to her friend Yukong, joyfully declaring she has found a partner who values her true self. The story ends with Tingyun calling him by his true name, Mydeimos, and pledging lifelong fidelity. The lion king, once solitary, is willingly won over by the fox, and they vow never to part.
