Summary
“Ah, yes, you spent time in jail too,” Alexei started, as if that was what Bob intended to bond over. Bob wet his lips and nodded. Alexei saw right through him. “No, you chose men. You like being with men?”
“Yeah,” Bob whispered, tears prickling at the corners of his eyes. One word but the first time he’d confessed it.
“Nothing wrong with that,” said Alexei, and Bob just shook his head.
“I don’t want to like men.”
“We can’t change who we love.”
Bob struggles to accept his sexuality (and his growing feelings for John). The Thunderbolts help.
Or: Five times someone came out to Bob and one time Bob came out to someone else.

Summary
Voidwater, Nevada. 1873.
U.S. Marshal John Walker arrives in a frontier mining town to investigate five disappearances and a dead sheriff. What he finds is a company that won't answer questions, a darkness in the mine that doesn't behave like darkness should, and Bob Reynolds, a stable worker with shadows that move wrong near to him and also the most handsome man that John had ever seen.
The town calls Bob "the Sentry". John calls him beautiful, calls him Bobby in the dark above the stables, and doesn't ask about the things he sees that don't make sense until the night something comes out of the mine and Bob stops pretending to be just a stable boy.
There's an old darkness beneath the mountain. The O.X.E. Mining Company is drilling toward it anyway, and John Walker has a choice to make about what matters more.
Some doors shouldn't be opened. Some thresholds are better left alone. And some people are worth staying for, even when staying means watching the world end or standing beside the one thing keeping it from ending.Bookmarked by Strangerfox

Summary
Sam glanced over the mottled bruises and thick scars wrapping around his torso, accompanied by a hollow stomach and protruding ribs. Dried blood coated his side, spilled from a large gash in his abdomen. Tremors ran up his spine, making him fight so hard to sit still under Sam’s hands. His tearful eyes refused to make contact, like he was afraid of what would follow if he did.
Like this, he didn’t seem so scary. Just… fragile, like tempered glass beneath the threat of a nail.
Or: Sam stumbles across an injured and fearful man in the middle of the night, one month after Triskelion. After bringing him back to his apartment to treat his wounds, he realizes just who — what — he's brought into his home.

They just have to conceal the ugliest parts about themselves. But when someone inescapably draws you closer, staying hidden might be harder than anticipated.
Parking lots, late night phone calls and two men finding out that the harder you try to put out a fire, the wilder it burns.

Summary
“What’s his name?” asked Bob, his tone noticeably lighter.
His name. Huh. Somehow, Yelena hadn’t actually thought about naming him. In her defense, a lot had happened since she brought him home. “He doesn’t have one yet.”
“Oh.” Bob fell silent, brow furrowed thoughtfully. His mouth opened and closed twice and each time, Yelena expected him to suggest a name. When he finally spoke, it turned out he wasn’t thinking about what to name it at all. “There were guinea pigs in the lab. The O.X.E. lab, I mean. In Malaysia.”
“That’s where I found him. I took him with me before I blew it up.”
“What about the others?”
“There weren’t any others.”
Yelena introduces Bob to her guinea pig. It turns out they have some things in common.
