Garter belts fastened to the lacy band around his hips, and they trailed downward in elegant lines over his thighs and to the lacy tops of the sheer, light pink stockings. Little lace flowers with cream-colored accents and delicate, thin bows decorated the whole ensemble. Emma traced a finger along one of the tiny pink bows that embellished the tops of the garter straps.
“What do you think?” Paul asked nervously, the corners of his mouth curving upward in a shy smile.

His eyes are probably puffy, his face probably splotchy red, and she’ll read him in a second and know more or less what happened.
She does figure it out, but thankfully doesn’t comment on it, just runs her thumbs gently beneath his eyes. “If you need somebody to fight your boss for you, I’m down. This is getting ridiculous.”
“It’s not his fault, either. You’ll probably have to fight the CEO to get anything done.”
“Then just badge me in, babe, I’ll figure it out from there.”
