Taehyun slowly opened his eyes and looked up at the face of the man who he’d been clinging to thinking it was Soobin. It was, in fact, not Soobin. Taehyun could see, over Kai’s shoulder, that Soobin was by the dessert table. He was looking right at Taehyun giving him a shit-eating grin and a thumbs up. Taehyun looked back up at Kai’s stupidly handsome face. His blond hair shone like a halo, and he had even taken care to style it out of his face instead of hiding behind his bangs like he normally did. Kai was smiling widely back at him. Taehyun squeezed his eyes shut like that could erase the fact that he had just told their intern that he thought they were hot and he wanted to ask them out. This is the exact reason Taehyun always argued against having alcohol at company events.

Summary
Kai never felt like he belonged in the glamorous but cutthroat Moroi court after his mom became queen.
