Summary
They ask where her allegiance lies and she shrugs before Sothis pushes her to respond. The words come out before she can think about it further.
“Leicester Alliance,” probably, she thinks but mumbles anyway. The heir to the Alliance, the boy in gold (not that young, she reminds herself, seeing her youth reflected in his face) smiles. Claude.
The smile doesn’t reach his eyes, she thinks. But then again, hers never do either.
--OR: another self-indulgent retelling of Fire Emblem: Three Houses focusing on the relationship between Claude and Byleth in White Clouds/Verdant Wind, with a mix of all other routes and characters as well.

“But there was more to it than a pretty melody. A certain hint of sorrow—” he stops in his tracks, gaze wandering to one of the paths leading from the clearing into the heart of the trees. “I felt as though you were speaking directly to me,” he finishes, warm eyes flicking back to fixate on her.
It could easily be a line—it has the nonchalant cadence, the trappings of facade, a sort of emotional distance. But Dorothea is a songstress, and characterizing voices is her specialty. Sylvain’s tone is undercut by a buzzing thrum of truth. She crosses her arms and tilts her head. “And what do you know of sorrow, Son of the Vermilion Forest?”
He leans forward, his voice dropping low. “Far more than you would ever expect, my dear.”
The words linger for only a moment before he pulls away. “But enough of that. Back to your music.” He pinches his chin, feigning pensivity. “Those melodies could stir the very earth, I think. Or sway even the dead.”
A retelling of the Orpheus and Eurydice myth, starring Dorothea and Sylvain respectively. Happy Ending.
