Summary
Trinity can feel the stolen scalpel burning a hole in her pocket. Fuck it. “Wanna get a drink?”
Hope flickers in her chest and it must show on her face because Mel falters. Trinity kicks herself. Last thing she needs is pity from Miss Ren Fucking Faire. She squares her shoulders.
“Look, Melon, if you need to get home, feed your fish or whatever, I get it. Don’t let me stop you.”
Mel’s brow furrows in confusion. “I don't own any fish,” she says. “Actually, Becca won one at a carnival once when we were kids but, funny story-”
Santos interrupts. “What I mean, Mellow Yellow, is you don’t have to humor me. I’m a big girl. You can tell me to kick rocks.”
“Oh.” Mel frowns. “You have a very strange way of communicating.”
Trinity and Mel hang out after the Fourth of July shift. It’s all downhill from there.
OR
I have created a version of Trinity that is so piteous, I want to punch myself in the head.

Summary
Mel likes patterns. Predictability. She likes knowing what someone will most likely say before they say it. When she was younger, it felt more like a game.
B=f(P,E)
Behavior is the function of personality and their environment.
Anyone can be programmed in.
Except Trinity Santos.
(A companion piece to 'this isn't dirty work' in Mel's perspective but can be read alone)

Summary
As the poised heir to LN Holdings Incorporated, your life is defined by restraint, reputation, and legacy: by knowing when to speak and when to stay silent. Ellie Williams is the opposite. Newly rich, sharp-tongued, and impossible to ignore, she moves through elite spaces like a disruption no one knows how to contain.
When a labor scandal implicates your best friend’s family and one of the most powerful dynasties in your social circle, Ellie refuses to play along. You don’t contradict her—but you don’t defend her, either.
Between tradition and truth, desire and loyalty, and the warmth of being seen and the cost of being known, you’re forced to confront a question no one has ever taught you how to answer: what do you owe the world, when the world has always belonged to you?
