The white-haired man froze, and almost right as that happened, the box started to shake.
Kagome’s body moved on instinct. Her gut telling her that something bad was about to happen, her knowledge that she could stop it, her deep conviction the white-haired man deserved to have someone on his side — it all took over, and she couldn't have stopped to think about it if she wanted to.
Just as the box was launching itself forward, she’d stepped in front of it, raising a hand. Her back collided with that of the white-haired man, so she was certain whatever was coming wouldn’t get in contact with him, another unconscious decision. Since she didn’t have anything to channel her energy into, all she could do was raise the staff she’d grabbed earlier. It wasn’t anything much, but she could still push her energy through it, using it to shape it as she wished to.
“Kekkai!”

"Oh, Kaeya!" on any other day, she would have hugged and congratulated him on being recognised by Lord Barbatos and granted a Vision. Today her heart stops at the realisation that Kaeya's life had been endangered to the point where he might not have been in her home right now had the Archons not thrown him a stick.
Jean is distressed because two of her favourite fellow knights have fallen out with each other.

Summary
When a Japanese flight intended for California lands in New York by mistake, three separate parties are displaced: one a hero bound for an international convention, the second a villain meeting with an American contact, and the third a mother and son hoping to enjoy a relaxing vacation.
This wouldn’t be too much of an inconvenience were the airline responsible willing to offer a timely corrective flight, but seeing as they aren’t, each group independently decides that a cross-country road trip is their only solution. The issue is, there’s only one rental car, and although Yagi Toshinori is completely willing to ask Midoriya Inko for a ride, Hisashi Shigaraki has spoken to neither, and has absolutely no reservations regarding grand theft auto.
He never intended to kidnap the teenager sleeping in the car’s backseat, but now that he has, he certainly isn’t giving him back. Not even with Japan’s number one hero and an angry mother on his trail. Because for whatever reason, said teenager really reminds him of his dearly departed younger brother. And, less favorably, his ex-wife. Coincidence really is a funny thing.

Lots of twists, sharp right turns, banter, humor, angst, and slow character development from a wildly flailing nitwit into a wildly flailing heroine. But still mostly a nitwit.

Not a Mary Sue or self-insert, and in fact starts out as a trainwreck par excellence, though not *quite* as bad as Covenant.
