    Summary

"So this is the fabled Ghost King," the man says like he expected better.

Danny feels he should almost be offended if it isn't for the tiny detail that these cultists—who summoned him by using salt and goat bones—assume he is the ghost king. "…Did you seriously confuse me with Pariah Dark?"

    The man pauses. "Pariah Dark?"

"Yes! He's like fifteen feet tall, has a huge sword, is a pain in the ass, and has, like, an entire ghost army. I have, I dunno, pre-calc homework in my bag. We are not the same."

Or: Danny accidentally gets summoned. He’s not happy about it.

Okay, so, look. Bernard probably should have messaged Tim to let him know that he was coming over. But in his defence, he hadn’t been expecting to bump into Batman and his entire fucking team upon unlocking and opening the door to Tim’s flat.

    He blinked. Blinked again.

    He closed the door.

Opened it again. Rubbed his eyes just to make sure.

Okay, yeah, no, he wasn’t so ill that he'd started hallucinating, they were still there.

    OR:

Bernard is sick. Bernard wants hot chocolate. Bernard discovers Tim is Red Robin- wait. Bernard what now?

I couldn't stop smiling throughout the entire fic, I think this is my new favourite thing, like, ever?? 😭😭
Genuinely cannot recommend this fic enough, it's super funny and Bernard is comedically relatable for practically the whole thing 💙 (At least for me)

Jedediah really should have noticed it sooner. They had returned from the Smithsonian and been on display for almost a month by now, and the new Night Program was in full swing...so perhaps there were more than a few reasons it had slipped under his radar. But still, he should have noticed it sooner.

Octavius’ brow was furrowed as he spoke to his second in command. Jedediah could see the dark shadows under the general’s eyes, the tension in his armor-clad shoulders, the odd little eye movements that flickered off to the side at odd intervals, as if he felt like he was being watched or was waiting for something to jump him. Octavius looked stressed and worn out and he was acting...well, protective, Jedediah landed on. Or maybe paranoid. It was a wonder Jedediah hadn’t caught on sooner.

All in all, it was obvious that something was up with the Roman general...and perhaps it was high time Jedediah did something about it.

(In which certain events at the Smithsonian may have affected Octavius more than he is willing to admit, and Jedediah is there to help.)

“Don’t try to deny it,” Komaeda retorted harshly. “Maybe you don’t hate me as much as I thought, but everyone else on this island is disturbed by my presence.”

“They’re worried,” Hinata conceded. “They never took the time to know you. They’re scared because they don’t understand what goes through your head.”

    “And you do?”

BEST NAGITO AND HAJIME CHARACTARISATION I'VE EVER SEEN, HANDS DOWN
Genuinely, this fic was such a delight to read! Everything felt so true to the characters, and even though it mainly focuses on Nagito and Hajime, the rest of the cast are still written with equal importance! The dynamics between everyone form so naturally, and it was lovely seeing Nagito slowly improve over the course of the fic! 💙💙💙
I cannot possibly recommend this fic enough!
