"Cas?", he asked, tripping over his bedsheets when he tried to step towards the angel's voice. "Damnit, can you read minds now? I was going to pray to you but-Cas?!" Dean immediately jumped towards Castiel and tried to hold him up against his chest. The angel was swaying, hands gripping tight on to the table he was leaning against. "What happened to you?"
"I am sorry for disturbing you. I didn't know where else to go", Cas slurred out, ignoring Dean's question and politely tried to get himself out of the hunter's grip. He failed miserably, only collapsing more into Dean's arms.

Cas is hurt and has just one place he can go to-or rather just one person. When he crashed into Dean's motel room, Dean is left to tend to his wounds and old feelings resurface along with more problems. Will they work everything out in the end?

That virus wiped out most of humanity in a matter of weeks, leaving only animals warped into monsters and humans with special abilities. However, for the first time since the virus began, Dean meets a person whose mind he can't read. Determined to find out why that is, Dean confronts the stranger, who he finds out is called Castiel. Before he can get to know more, though, the two are forced to flee to a bunker when one of those vicious monsters comes after them. For days, they're locked together there because the monster wouldn't leave. In the course of those few days, Dean learns some things from Castiel he never would've believed if not for Castiel's wings...

In the weeks after Cas' death, right up until he comes back, Dean manages to convince himself that Cas' confession wasn't romantic. Because if Cas meant it romantically- he would've. He would've kissed Dean, right? If Cas meant it That Way and he knew that he was going to die, he would've pulled Dean in for one final kiss, right?
He would've let Cas kiss him, Dean thinks. It's the least he could do, after all.
Wait. Shit. Did he want Cas to kiss him?
(Or: Dean watches too many movies and tries to give Cas an "in" to kiss him after he comes back- just to confirm the nature of Cas' confession for himself, of course. He tries not to think about it too hard.)
