Phil vaguely recognises Tubbo's father on the phone over the muted yelling in the background. It sounds as if it's coming from another room, and suddenly Phil's worried that he's going to be paying for their repainted walls as well as his own.
"Mate, listen, I'm really sorry if Tommy's been causing trouble and I'll pay for any damages, he's a good kid-"
"No- no, Phil," there's an audible breath over the speaker. Phil wants to argue that, yes, Tommy is a good kid despite his more chaotic tendencies, but the sheer heft behind the man's sigh gives him pause. Paint splatters onto the floor.
"There's... no easy way to say this but- Wilbur, he's... Phil he's dead."

Summary
Izuku knew from a young age he was alive for a purpose, whether he liked that fact or not. Friends, family - they weren't meant for someone like him. He'd long since accepted that fact; acceptance was easy when it was all that remained to cling on to, and he would carry his fate with pride even when it threatened to drown him. He prayed the hands of those left behind were holding it with him (and not dragging it down on top of him like it sometimes felt).
Destiny was set, and when destiny failed... well,All that was left, was to try, try, try again.
