He nods, a loose curl flopping in front of his eyes. He’s pushing it away absentmindedly before she can even raise her arm. Because of course, she doesn't need to do that anymore. He smiles at the suggestion, and she can’t tell if it’s real.
“Sounds good.”
She smiles back, rising carefully and squeezing his shoulder as she passes. As if the contact will bridge what’s actually spoken and the things he won’t say, she pretends not to notice the way he tenses momentarily beneath her touch. She pretends not to notice so very much with him some days.
