Summary
A short speculation fic for 9x18. Eddie and May get stuck in an elevator during the shooting, with Eddie bleeding out and May trying to save him.
***
"O-okay," she says when she's finished. Her breathing is shaky as she keeps a steady pressure on his bleeding wound. "What else can I do?"
"Do you happen to know last rites?"
"Eddie!"
Well. The remark made Eddie chuckle, at least. May still looks distressed, looking up at him with wide, terrified eyes.
"Relax. You did everything you can do while we're stuck in here," he tells her, opting for a small reassuring smile instead. God, he's tired. He needs to keep talking. "You need to get used to the gallows humor if you're gonna become a nurse."

Summary
Alex Doyle makes a wrong assumption and Eddie spirals to hell and back about it.
***
"No, no, don't apologize at all. I just hope Hen will be alright. In the long run, too, not just tonight," Alex says. "And if you and your, uh, family need any more mediating evenings, you can call me up again. I feel like we barely scratched the surface today."
Eddie chuckles. "I'm sure we'll keep you in mind the next time we need you. Thank you."
"I should go. Don't want to keep you away from the hospital. Say goodbye to Athena and your husband for me?"
She turns and politely leaves Athena's driveway before Eddie could finish choking on air. Your husband. As in, she probably thinks Buck is his husband. Which is crazy. He's straight. And Buck ... well, not straight, but there was definitely no indication for them being together. At least not tonight. Even though they arrived at Athena's together, with one car. But that just made sense. He drove them here, Buck was going to drive them home. Separate homes.

Summary
In an effort to save Guillermo's life, Nandor tries to keep the vampire-slaying side of him away from his roommates. His roommates, however, completely misinterpret the reason behind Nandor's attempts to not let anyone be in the same room as Guillermo.
(This fic takes place somewhere after 2x07 and I guess 2x08 with the slight canon divergence where Nandor finds out everything about Guillermo's vampire-hunting after Guillermo killed Carol. It will get more canon divergent as it goes on though)

Summary
Fun fact: Karen hates Mondays. She hates them so much, in fact, that she has an iron-clad morning routine to get her through the beginning of the week.
Wake up to her alarm. Press play on her Monday morning feel-good playlist. Wash up. Get dressed. Take the travel bowl of overnight oatmeal with frozen fruit from the fridge (she'll eat those in her office). Grab her bag and keys, by the door. Put her Monday playlist on headphones. Catch the subway, but get off one stop earlier than she's supposed to (she prefers to walk the rest of the way, to shake off her morning grumpiness). Turn right by the subway to get her comfort chamomille tea from her favourite coffee shop. Ogle the very handsome looking firefighter in line in front of her—
Well. That last one is new. But, damn. She's always had a thing for women in uniform.
***
An alternative take on how Hen and Karen met and started dating, told through a series of chance meetings.
Title taken from the song Beyond by Leon Bridges.<3

Summary
“They asked us to share something interesting about our families.”
“And you—” Eddie stops, presses his lips together, then flicks a hand toward him. “You went with my imaginary engagement.”
Christopher finally puts his phone away. “I didn’t say you were engaged.”
“You told everyone I have a firefighter boyfriend.”
“Yeah.”
Eddie lifts a hand. “Which firefighter?”
Christopher gives him a look.
Eddie waits.
The look continues.
He lets his hand fall. “Christopher.”
“Who do you think?”
“I’m asking you.”
Christopher shifts one crutch against the wall and gestures vaguely at Eddie, like the answer should be somewhere on his person. “Buck.”
Or Chris tells his science club that Buck and Eddie are basically married

Summary
It’s not that Buck didn’t spend a lot of time with the Diazes before, but since he started fostering Theo, he’s spending a lot of time with the Diazes. Theo imprinted on both Eddie and Chris like a duckling, and it’s not like Buck’s going to deny him the opportunity to spend time with them. Not when they’re Buck’s favorite people, too.
Or: Buck finally notices The Elephant in the Room.

Summary
From there, it becomes a thing. At least once a day, either Christopher or Buck declare that a mild inconvenience is a part of the anti-gay agenda.
They hit every red light? During pride month? Homophobic.
The hot water stops working? In June? Homophobic.
Or, Eddie doesn't think he really needs to come out to anyone. Christopher adopts a new catchphrase. Buck is confused.

Summary
It isn’t supposed to feel like this. Even after everything, his whole life, all the people who have left, the expanse of empty sheets in the morning a familiar sight—even after all that, Buck is still a romantic, deep down. He still thought if you found someone who stuck around for years, and you let them in and let them see the real you, and then they kissed you and took you to bed, then that was it, the happily ever after. At the very least they’d be there in the morning.

Summary
When Theo falls under the care of Buck, Chris gets along with him so well that he asks Buck to babysit him every now and then.
That's how Fridays are created.
They fall into this routine quickly, with a few bumps along the way. While Buck tries his best to preserve the family he accidentally built, Eddie does everything in his power to show Buck there's one more thing in the equation that hasn't been addressed yet.
or: Buck is bad at reading signs and Eddie is even worse at expressing how he feels with actual words.
