Anders did not respond, eyes fixed on Solona’s face as she considered him. Anders had gained a beard and lost some muscle since they’d last met, and time had left its mark on them too, but she obviously recognized him.
“Yes,” Solona said after a lengthy pause, her well-shaped lips pursed in consideration. “I, Solona Amell, do hereby conscript this man into the Grey Wardens.” 'Again,' she did not say out loud.
Anders sighed, tossing the crook of his arm back over his face and closing his eyes. It seemed that his day could still plumb new depths of misfortune.
“Oh, fuck me,” he moaned.
