All things considered in the vast and unknowable expanse of existence, it’s quite unlikely that a Keith from one reality and a Shiro from another would both embark on missions headed directly toward each other. But it's not impossible.

Keith’s room is a box made of windows. Clear walls on all sides, so he can be observed from any angle. He imagines it’s a little like living in a zoo, except in zoos, the animals usually have a place to go if they don’t feel like being seen.
He has a bed though. Or a bunk, rather, attached to one wall. And blankets. He normally sleeps underneath it these days, in a blanket cocoon. They haven’t punished him for it yet.

Summary
A shape is emerging from the mouth of the lion. A body that is utterly familiar and utterly alien all at once. The world tilts on its axis and Shiro feels like he’s having an out of body experience as his eyes scan the figure before him.
Strong shoulders. A scar across his nose. Black hair with a tuft of a white forelock. A gleaming metal arm. He is beaten and bloody but he is undeniably Shiro.
“Keith.” The other Shiro gasps, voice raw — and then he promptly passes out on the muddy desert ground.
Or: One year and nine months after the Paladins of Voltron defeat Honvera: Shiro goes to therapy, Keith comes home for his birthday, and a storm starts building in the desert. Realities collide when The Black Lion returns to Earth carrying a man who looks a lot like Takashi Shirogane.

He’s opening his mouth in a greeting, but Matt is at his elbow, already pulling out a seat, and he saves Shiro’s ass by asking the actually important question:
“What are we making fun of Keith for today?”
or: Keith is developing new communcation skills thanks to his Galra side, Shiro wants to understand him better, and Pidge just wishes one of them would get a clue.

The last thing Shiro wants is to push for something Keith isn’t ready for. Or didn’t really mean.
Instead he stays quiet. He eagerly takes all the touches Keith offers, probably holds onto hugs for a little too long. Allows himself a hand on Keith’s shoulder or back and, sometimes, gives into the temptation to brush his fingers across the nape of Keith’s neck, feel the silky strands of his hair.
It’s enough.

In the aftermath of everything, Shiro and Keith still operate in each other’s orbits—Shiro as the Captain of the Atlas, Keith under him as a liaison with the Blades. Shiro struggles with increasingly possessive feelings toward Keith. It escalates from there.
