The Sorcerer wasn't fast enough, and the Forest Spirit touched him.
A Spirit touch is never a good thing.

Or, the Queen rarely - if ever - orders an Excursion, so only the best of the best have been sent out. On their way, they find a forest, inhabited by a Spirit, that they need to cross. Exceptionally, Olivander sends his strongest mage, the Sorcerer of their Party, with the Pathfinder team to scout out a path they could take, and calm the Spirit with offerings before they all go.
It doesn't go according to plan.

He doesn't know much about the kid. The only reason why he knows his name is because it was sometime pronounced by scientists, mostly when the child was screaming to death and they were trying to calm him... and probably spare their ears. Peter's screams were a piercing sound that could be heard throughout the building, from his cell to Bucky's, and it nearly made Bucky's ears bleed more than once. It was later, when he escaped with the kid, that he learned that it wasn't Peter who could scream like a tortured cat.
It was Venom.

Steve looks at the screen before him. He blinks a few times, then rubs his eyes and shakes his head, but the face in front of him doesn't change.
''Is it really him?'' he whispers, as if talking too loud would make his childhood friend disappear; for good, this time.
''My facial recognition software never fails.'' Tony answers. ''This man is indeed James Barnes, and he destroyed half of Paris.''
. . .
Or the one in which Bucky escaped HYDRA by himself and took a kid on his way out, and Steve finds them.

“I saw this really pretty butterfly,” Taehyung says, his eyes nearly crossed as he tries to look at Yoongi’s hand on his nose. “I was following it and I didn’t even realize I wandered into the road.”
Yoongi steps back, bloodied gauze in hand. “You were following a butterfly?”
“Yes.” Taehyung sighs dreamily. “It was blue.”
If he’s being honest, this is not at all what Yoongi expected vampires to be like. He didn’t expect scary bloodsucking monsters either, nothing like that. But… well, he didn’t expect a guy who follows butterflies and seems to, maybe, be not entirely all there.

Paramedic Yoongi meets vampire Taehyung when he gets hit by a car while following a butterfly. After being stuck in his coffin for [mumbles] years, Taehyung is a little eccentric and behind the times. Yoongi isn’t entirely sure why he offered Taehyung, who can only name three songs off the top of his head, music appreciation lessons. But inviting a vampire into his home and his life is probably no big deal. Right?

When Yoongi’s suppressants fail unexpectedly, he goes into preheat at a group game night. Jungkook is so affected by Yoongi’s scent he nearly bites him before they’re pulled apart. This isn’t exactly how Yoongi wanted to find out his friend has a crush on him, especially when he’s never thought of Jungkook that way. But when the daze of his heat clears, Jungkook seems to be everywhere Yoongi is, with gifts and smiles and his sweet scent. And maybe Yoongi likes that more than he expected.
