The man’s grayish eyebrow twitched slightly, curling upwards as he processed the banker’s words. He did not look offended. He did not look anything at all.
“What kind of business would cause a proper-looking man such as yourself to take interest in this dilapidated place ?”
The banker’s smile almost widened. ‘Proper-looking’.“Who knows.” He fiddled with the pommel of his cane; the seller’s eyes sharpened. The bank clerk felt those burning pupils size him up - more intense than a hundred glassy doll eyes. Something was wrong with his right one. He couldn’t quite put words on what exactly felt off. “I take it this place is not for sale ?”
“Indeed, it’s not. I am not in such dire straits that would render me vulnerable to the false pity of a regrator.”

“Good afternoon, Lord Pantalone.” The child said, climbing onto the armchair. The Harbinger patiently waited for him to settle. The usual smile curling up Pantalone’s lips had turned slightly softer, less commercial.
“So, what is it that you need to ask me ?”
“I have heard Sixty-five and Forty-five said that you and Thirty-five would soon go to Sumeru. I want to come.” A request, spoken with the conviction and sternness of a demand. Pantalone’s smile widened, and his gaze sharpened slightly.

Or, in which Pantalone, Thirty-five and Eight are traveling to Sumeru like a big happy family. Pantalone gathers info as an ambassador for the Tsaritsa, Dottore is plotting his ascension to godhood, and Eight is working on catching an Aranara. -

The Regrator’s hold on his quill faltered slightly, and he eventually put it down. His eyes narrowed.
“You-”“So now you’re finally acknowledging my presence ? The things I need to do to finally have your attention...” Dottore mockingly lamented, cutting Pantalone off. His thumb stroked the edge of the banker’s jaw, raking over his skin.
“I thought the message I sent this morning had clarified my mood. You truly need to learn how to read context clues, Doctor.”
“I’m afraid Twenty-Five is the one who opened and destroyed your letter. A pity he killed off your messenger. After he burnt the note, I had no way of reading its content.” The scoff that escaped Pantalone’s lips did not earn any reaction from Dottore - save for the slight twitch of the Doctor's fingers. “Whatever happened between you, Twenty-five, and Forty-five yesterday is none of my concern. But I expect answers when I’m having a conversation with you.”

“How unsurprising to find you there.” A voice rose behind him. Familiar and taunting. Quiet steps, and the voice was suddenly standing by his side. Leaning against the railing, glaring down to the lifeless garden below them. Echoes of classical music coming from the lively ballroom slowly faded away, overlapped by Dottore’s voice. “And how unpleasant to see what you are up to while hiding out.”
“I’m not hiding.” Pantalone retorted, approaching his cigarette to his parted lips again. Dottore’s irritated tongue click was promptly ignored as he spoke again. " It is common courtesy not to smoke inside of a crowded ballroom. But I know the very concept of manners must be foreign to you.”
