Summary

Summary
After being thrown into the town's jail by the guards for being in the vicinity of a terrible tavern fight, Sokka has to team up with this mysterious elf named Zuko to break out and find his friend and sister, whom he hasn't seen since the fight.
All Sokka is hoping is that the guy will stick around since he seemingly has nothing else to do.
Or: I wanted to put some Zukka content into my homebrew D&D world and by golly am I gonna do it.

Zuko was supposed to die that night, at his father's hands and at the behest of his grandfather.
Ursa was supposed to vanish that night, and take nothing with her but her name.
Things didn't exactly go to plan.
OR: spirited away from the fire nation by their mother and abandoned to a life of poverty and running, zuko and azula learn to manage. right until the avatar and his friends drop way too cheerfully into their life, and the war returns to them in earnest. a story of hope, hardship and learning to believe in humanity again. zuko wants absolutely nothing to do with it, thank you.

Sokka is a photojournalist who just wants to write an article about this mysterious new vigilante who fights in his side of town.
Zuko happens to work the same paper as Sokka, and he has no idea why Sokka hates him.
Sokka can't decide if he hates Zuko because of his family name, or if he has just the teensiest little crush on him.Will the Blue Spirit be able to save the people who he wants to save? And who will be there to save him when he needs it?

Summary
Book one ends with two major diffrences: 1. Sokka went on the mission with Hahn (it did not go well) 2. Zhao survives the North Pole and that proves unfortunate for everybody (except Zhao, obviously)
Imprisoned on Zhao’s war ship, Sokka and Zuko have to work together to survive. They are not very enthusiastic about this prospect.
And they argue.
