“I’ll be out in the Alley for the night,” the man says when Harry is set up on a creaky bed in his own room. “If you need anything, go ask for Moribund. He’ll keep you safe until I get back.”
Harry fidgets with the comforter draped over his lap.
“You’ll be back by sunrise?” He’s gathered that vampires really don’t like sunlight, just like the books say. He’s glad he knows something about his new situation at least.
“Yeah, don’t worry too much, kiddie.” The man smiles, showing pointed teeth. “I’ll set you up with one of my day friends who can take you back out to muggle London. You’ll be at your muggle house in no time.”
AKA: Harry stumbles upon Knockturn Alley before he ever finds out about Hogwarts. This changes everything.

Owen Grady has always felt more connected to animals than to people. He capitalized on this connection in the Navy to train dogs and dolphins, and he uses it when Simon Masrani calls him to ask if he wants a job. Velociraptors can't be so different from all the other animals he's worked with, right?
Then the first egg hatches.
He watches as sharp claws pierce the outer shell of the egg, slowly tearing open the material. The animal moves slowly. She’s just a baby, he knows, so her muscles aren’t at their best, but even now he’s sure those claws could rip out his throat with no effort. A yellow eye peers out from the gap in the egg. Owen stares back at it, unblinking. He smiles as a noise comes from the egg, a raspy chirp that makes an inhuman sound of his own bubble up his throat before he can push it back down.
