Summary
In those last split seconds before it ends, there is intimacy.
In that shuddering gasp between stability and unimaginable force, a glance shared with another man - all those conversations you wanted to have but didn’t, all that useless yearning directed at nothing - his hand instinctively presses to the front of your kit in a pale echo of wish, of a boy’s last cry for his mother. Or a pat for a job well done; an impotent display of brotherhood at the edge of reality.

Simon and John struggle to lean on each other after their mutual discharge, navigating their trauma, feelings, and what it means to be intimate with another man.

Summary
The last two hours pass strangely. Fifteen minutes feels like nothing, but a single second takes forever. Ghost doesn't watch the clock for the sake of his own sanity, but he can hear its obnoxious ticking. Tick tick tock, like the seconds it took to ice Makarov and then throw himself at Soap's side, try to stem the bleeding, try to hold the pieces of his skull together. Tick tock, the handfuls of seconds it took to disarm the bomb and get medical to them. Tick tock, tick tock - the assembly of all those monitors, tubes and wires like Soap was a machine on the brink of self-destruction, a second bomb waiting to explode. The too-slow rise and fall of his chest, the manic-fast surge of his heartbeat. The long, long hours waiting to see if he'd even be able to be stabilized, rushed to surgery, the endless pacing outside of the ICU doors waiting, waiting, waiting…
Tick tock.

Summary
"Ye ever heard of a whalefall?" Soap asks. Ghost nods. "Big carcass, settlin' down in the bottom of the ocean, and all these other things get to feast off it. Don't care where it swam, how old it was, dinnae even care what it's made of 'cept meat." He takes another drag, down to the filter.
Ghost hands his over, doesn't even think about it until he sees Soap's lip close around the shine of his own saliva. His breath hitches, riveted beyond belief. "Kinda makes ye wonder, ye ken? If there is God, and He's off doin' whatever, what might come in and feed off what He left behind?"
Things evolve to feed. Hunger is the oldest emotion there is.

Summary
“Cap, what’s going on?”
Price turns half towards him, jaw working, levels him with a long look. When he eventually speaks, Soap can tell that he didn’t imagine the earlier flicker in his eyes.
“It’s Ghost. He’s been captured.”
After a mission gone sideways, Ghost isn't the only one who has to deal with the aftermath and everything that comes with it.–––
Edit: Now with wonderful art by Armache in chapter 11!

Summary
When a mission gone wrong leaves John "Soap" MacTavish in a coma in a foreign hospital, the language barrier turns Simon "Ghost" Riley into Soap's husband instead of his partner.
What begins as a bureaucratic mistake snowballs into a full-blown fake marriage as Ghost is forced keep up the ruse in order to deal with hospital staff, paperwork, and, to his horror, very real in-laws.
By the times Soap wakes up, he has acquired a very devoted husband the nurses swoon over and his parents have accepted into the family.
As Soap recovers, he and Ghost try to navigate their growing feelings as the line between pretend and fake starts to blur. By the time Soap is cleared for active duty again, they must figure out what their relationship really is… and whether the fake marriage everyone believes in might not be so fake after all.
