Trying to kill the Hero isn't working well for Ganon. Even if Link falls, he comes back - reincarnated just in time to ultimately foil Ganon's plans. No matter how many times Link dies, the Hero's Spirit remains.
So perhaps, instead of trying to break Link's individual incarnations, he should try to break that.
