When Colt disappears after breaking his back, Ryland Grace has a bit of a break down about it. Luckily for him he's quickly distracted by the arrival of two aliens in his life! Less luckily the appearance of extraterrestrial life does not go unnoticed.
Forced to work for an organization known as the C.O.I. he has to figure out how to keep himself and his new friends alive. Along the way he's 'given' three convicts to help with anything he needs. He's determined to help them as well.

Summary
Just after Grace and Rocky are reunited at Tau Ceti, something odd pops up on the proximity alert. Seized by curiosity and fueled by a need for purpose, Grace reaches out for this artifact, only measuring about a foot across. Despite it's small size, they couldn't have guessed the scale of the discovery.
Neither could Simon, trying to sort out reality and hallucination, as he escapes the horrors lurking in AT-5. He comes face to face with a larger than life figure, coming to terms with his past and his future.
