Robin smells the iron and ichor of Ari’s blood as she enters their apartment. Her angel isn’t visible yet; from long familiarity, Robin knows they’ll be sulking in their bed, wrapped up in blankets and refusing to tend to themself in any way that might help. They’ve been entangled in each other’s lives for ages, orbiting each other in ways which take different forms in different eras, but the result is always the same:
Neither of them can die, and neither of them knows how to live alone, and so they keep coming back to each other, this relationship a gravity well neither of them wish to leave.
