Daeron’s gaze shot to his father. How long had it been since he’d said such a thing? It was the truth, of course, but after a time it became a truth that Maekar avoided acknowledging out loud. His father looked back to him and the heat in his gaze was gone. There was no hatred, nor resentment. No anger remained. He just looked tired, more tired than Daeron could ever remember him being.
“This is a great honor,” he said again. “You will be a queen.”

“Who's there?”
The voice was one he had never heard of. Valarr braved to step further into the room.
“Aerion?”
The first thing he noticed was her pale lavender eyes.
Next was her golden locks, long and wavy, framing her pale face. He thought they looked beautiful, even shimmering like ocean waves.
In which Valarr was sick of sweet lies and false kindness, so he sought the only person at Red Keep who mayhaps would tell him the truth.
The said person was, as Ser Duncan reminded, his mad long-lost cousin locked up in a tower, but he would somehow make it work.

El mazo de Maekar no mata a Baelor tras el juicio de siete, en su lugar solo queda inconsciente.
Baelor despierta de la inconsciencia para encontrar a un Rey Daeron II consumido por la furia, decidido a desterrar a Maekar y a su estirpe por atentar contra la Corona. Para salvar a su hermano de la expulsión de Poniente, Baelor propone un castigo más "adecuado" que el destierro: Tomar a Maekar, un omega viudo y "descarriado", como su consorte y reclamarlo para enseñaarle su lugar adecuado como su omega.
