Summary
Water fell in an even, rhythmic pattern, echoing across cobblestones. A shallow puddle gathered in the low corner of a damp dungeon. Chill seeped from the cracks in the walls and floor.
Chains clinked gently across stone, and an occasional draw of haggard breath pushed through the silence. A woman was on her feet, barely, knees bent and head hanging, hands manacled above her head. She was gripping and releasing the chains in time to the drips, trying to keep blood flowing through her aching arms and shoulders. She inhaled and exhaled slowly, dry tongue occasionally darting out onto dry lips. Blonde hair hung down, framing her face, sticking to her neck.
Kara Zor-El, princess of Krypton, was a prisoner – and she was scheduled to become a martyr.

The skirt is discarded only to reveal white breeches underneath. Another man appears from the shadows and holds out a blue frock coat with gold laced buttons that tells Lena all she needs to know. The woman puts it on with practiced ease and faces her again, nearly unrecognizable. Gone was the air of innocence Lena had seen earlier. It was replaced by a gravitas, an intensity, and an acuteness - especially in the way her eyes darted to Lena’s hands, as if she knew what Lena was up to. “You’re her,” Lena chuckles, genuinely enjoying herself. She’s always liked a challenge and this one felt like the biggest she would ever have. “You’re the Girl of Steel.”
“Commodore Kara Zor-El,” she rectifies with a flitting grimace at hearing the title Lena gave her. “Lena Luthor, you are under arrest-”
“Captain Lena Luthor,” Lena interrupts with an insolent smile at the annoyed look the Commodore gives her.

Summary

He has been a tyrant to their people since he rose to power in the wake of his their father’s suspicious death. Lex drags Lena to the despised gladiators despite her hatred of the events to announce that he will be purchasing one of the female fighters as a bodyguard and possibly for him to use to spy on his sister.
Kara Danvers has been put through the ringer, and she expects nothing much out of life though she does her best to look on the bright side of things. She is one of the best fighters out there, but she doesn’t much appreciate being singled out as a favorite of the king. The princess though… she might not be that bad.

She is bound, bruised and dirty, escorted to be judged for crimes her brother committed. Lena chuckles derisively. Not Luthor enough in her family’s eyes but enough to be punished in their stead by everyone else.
