"Didn't you get the news? We're all about to die," Hannibal says.
"Oh, it doesn't matter, I die all the time."

“Agent Graham looks young, doesn’t he?” Jack cut in, half-apologetic. “Dr. Lecter, Will is just barely out of the Academy. I had him in my class for a semester before we brought him into the BAU. Brightest mind I’ve seen in years. Please forgive his bite.”
“Forgiveness is hardly necessary,” Dr. Lecter said. His eyes lingered on Will, something dark and roiling in them that betrayed his faint, polite smile. “I had a far worse bite myself at your age, Will.”
Will wanted to roll his eyes, but Jack would give him an earful later, maybe, about how that wasn’t how you behaved in front of a man like Hannibal Lecter. He let the silence hang instead, and stared at his knees, an oddly flushed feeling creeping up the back of his neck, unbidden.
Will Graham, fresh out of the FBI Academy, is hand-picked by Jack Crawford to work on the Minnesota Shrike case. The well-established Dr. Hannibal Lecter is there to make sure he isn't lead astray.

But when Hannibal Lecter begins calling and offering therapy, she doesn't refuse and she doesn't call Jack Crawford. Maybe she just wants everyone to leave her alone. Maybe she’s afraid he’d come after Wally if she did.

Molly made bread in this little white bread machine full of dings and dents that rattled on the counter as it kneaded the dough, starting and stopping like a mechanical lullaby. The scent of warm, fresh bread would fill the house, sweet and earthy, and inevitably he and Wally would be lured into the kitchen.
Will is with Hannibal, but the scent of dough rising still reminds him of Molly. A study in relationships through the medium of bread.
