Summary
The dissolution of the Ninja-Pirate-Mink-Samurai Alliance meant that both captains wouldn't see each other for long enough for both to pursue their own goals, but it seemed that fate didn't want to grant Law that favor.

Trafalgar Law, like a good strategist, chose the best route that the log pose pointed to, being the shortest and, apparently, the safest. What the Heart Pirates would not imagine they would end up meeting Kurohige and part of the titanic captains. After escaping injured and with their captain unconscious, the crew decides to contact the Strawhats looking for help. However, that would only be the beginning of the maelstrom that would end with both captains being captured by the marines, with a totally unknown location, not only for their crews, but for practically the entire world.
Imprisoned, and with the constant threat of being executed, the perfect environment is formed to share their confidences about the past, present and future. But above all, talk about their wounded childhoods and how that has affected their existence and life purpose.

Summary
Dragon dreaded this. He knew the curse of their bloodline, the curse to keep the D's from ever being completely happy living in harmony without tearing it apart. He couldn't keep his son, not when he's trying to overthrow the World Government.
So Dragon can only turn to his only family. His father. Who is also a D but at least not trying to do anything world-changing at the moment. Damn D's curse, damn it all.

Or: The reason why D's kept on being tragic and/or absent parents, it was because the world itself tried to keep them apart, even from their own blood. Nothing can be done.
D's will always bring up a storm that is dangerous to themselves and their enemies.

Rayleigh blinked at that and looked at Garp again with a look of intrigue. He didn’t think of that at all, but Gaban made a fair point. “A carp that jumps over the dragon gate and became a dragon. A symbolism of your hope for him to be better than you?” That’s genius.
“I just thought Dragon sounds cool,” Garp admitted.

Roger Pirates' first meeting to Monkey D. Garp's sixteen-year-old son who already has an aspiration of his own. Rayleigh compared the boy to his own captain and found that D's can come in different shades.Coincidence or not, Garp had chosen a perfect name for his son. Someone who was challenging the flow, challenging the will of the world with his own will.
It gives enlightenment to those who are wise.
