Summary
Steven Meeks never really tried to hide the fact that he was in love with Gerard, not from his family, not anyone else. It was just too easy to love him. Given how the times were not as kind to people like him, he knew better than to tell anyone. They would figure it out if they wanted to see it.
His mother had wanted to.
She knew first, probably. His sisters and father had to either figure it out on their own or had been told. But it wouldn't change things, would it? They still loved him, right? They still care for his happiness, didn't they?+ + +
His love took a different shape than what people were used to. Not only because he had fallen in love with a boy, but also because the love he felt differed from how the books and poems taught about it. He chose him, an active participant in matters of the heart. Romance, to him, was something to practice like a craft: something he might eventually master, but definitely something he would never stop learning about. He had chosen Gerard at many different moments in his life and when he had finally put the word love to it, it had started to make sense.
He loved him. Simple and complicated as it was.

Summary
“Who decided you should be in charge of the drinks, anyway?” Cameron asked.
“The council,” Charlie replied, spreading his arms to indicate Meeks and Pitts, who were both making faces at the tequila that was still very much present in the drinks, Todd and Neil, once again ignoring everyone else in favor of whispering to each other, Cameron, who looked like he was about to complain some more, and Knox himself, who dimly recalled saying “Yeah, sure” and waving his hand at something Charlie had said earlier that night. Oops. “Anyway, stop whining, Cameron.”
“Whatever,” Knox interjected before Cameron could in fact keep whining. Not that it wouldn’t have been justified, but Knox already wanted to move on. “Drinks have been poured, let’s just play the game.”

Summary
Ellwood wants to please Gaunt in bed, and Gaunt doesn’t really know what he wants because he’s never had a partner who cared 😢 Ellwood decides to try something different.
“Touch me, Henry,” Ellwood says coyly, “I know you want to. And I’m right here, wanting it just as badly…maybe more.”
And that’s what breaks the dam. Gaunt launches himself at a smirking Ellwood, capturing his lips in a bruising kiss so passionate he can scarcely contain himself. He wants like he’s never felt before.
Instinctively, he finds himself on top of Ellwood, pinning Ellwood beneath him. Their erections brush against each other and he stops, panting like he’s run a race. He pulls back, eyes searching Ellwood’s for his reaction. All he sees is a slow, wicked grin. “Or maybe you do want this as much as I do,” Ellwood muses, running a hand up the arm Gaunt is holding him down with. “You know what I think, Henry?” he whispers seductively. “I think you know exactly what you want. You’re just too self-restrained to say it out loud. So I’m going to do us both a favor. Take it, Henry. Whatever it is that you want, just take it.”

Summary
As Neil fixed his tie in the bathroom mirror, pulling it so tight he was half-certain he'd asphyxiate before the night closed, he seriously regretted telling his father about Knox's connection to the Danburry's. Or, more specifically, Knox’s connection to one Dr. Danburry.
Alternatively;
Neil has a dinner scheduled with the Danburry's that he is absolutely not looking forward to. Little does he know that the dinner will have an extra guest attending—a "friend" of Ginny's from school, with sandy-blonde hair, powder blue eyes, and a notebook clutched to his chest.

Summary
It’s not until 1973 that Charlie thinks it isn’t all a dream. Knox has his head in the toilet, there’s a groupie smoking in his connected room, and it hits Charlie all too suddenly that this isn’t what he wanted when he and Meeks decided drunkenly one night they’d start a band.
Or: a portrait of the first few years and final decisions about their band, Letters From The Fight.
