"An outing!" he'd stuttered hastily when she questioned if it was a date.
It's just that he knew the perfect place to take her to. A sea-wall of sorts that wasn't a pier exactly, just what the name implied: a wall of concrete like a sidewalk almost, with the ocean down below on one side. Its path allowed them to walk along the beach without actually walking along the beach. They didn't have to worry about getting sand in their shoes, since neither of them owned flip flops.

He had a pounding migraine, the day off in the port mafia had left him with absolutely nothing to do: so he did what he does best, he drowned himself in alcohol and pills. It was peacefully mind numbing for a while, but the worst thing about distractions is they keep your problems at bay, but not out of sight.
It's like watching the reaper with his rotting sickle watch you, never out of sight, but temporarily out of reach. The most common advice in situations like these was to man up and face the situation - take the bull by its horns. That's just plain stupid.
It's the kind of thing Chuuya would do.
He'd always admired Chuuya for his sheer drive. There was a light behind Chuuyas eyes you don't often find in people, the fire of ambition, of passion. Dazai truly envied him. All he ever wanted in life was purpose. Ambition would help him, and it's not like he didn't have ambition, it's just that his ambition happened to be directed in trying to kill himself.
