“Dude, Spiderman was opposite the building again! He’s been there so much recently, I’m starting to think he lives here or something.”

Oscar choked on a french fry, lightly patting his chest and grabbing his drink to wash it down. “Have you thought about the fact that he probably likes the area?”

“No! He goes there with a hoodie and a backpack, he’s probably on his way home or something! Could you imagine? Spiderman could actually live in the flats opposite us!” Lando exclaimed, turning his head to the window and he could slightly see the same building. The world now becoming suffocated by the increasing darkness, the sunset long gone.

Oscar pinched the bridge of his nose, “I think you’re reading into this way too much, mate.”

    OR

Lando is obsessed with the friendly-neighbourhood Spiderman and Oscar is his good best friend that listens.

    Summary

The judge's gavel slammed down with more force than necessary. The judge was a woman in her mid-forties, who was staring Max down with the intensity of an eagle eying its prey. Brown eyes pierced into dark blue ones. Max swallowed ever so lightly, trying to seem less intimidated than he felt. A small smile appeared on the woman's lips, curving the usual straight line they formed on her face. Cruel. Deserved, perhaps, Max thought to himself.
"Max Emilian will be sentenced to at least a year in the Blackwood Rehabilitation Centre for Troubled Youth. After that, a reassessment of his capabilities will be possible."

Or: Max is a teenage criminal, Blackwood Rehabilitation Centre is his last hope before he goes straight to Juvie. There, he is put under the care of Lewis, one of the senior caretakers, who is in charge of him and three other boys. The others aren’t always exactly nice to him, and Lewis has a tendency to believe their side of the story rather than Max’s.

    Summary

There are rookies on the grid. Five new rookies, six if you include Liam. Max is absolutely including Liam into the roster, because he still looks so young and excited and nervous about his season, and he keeps spiking his hair up with some silly hair gel which then makes Max want to smooth it back down, and—

There are six rookies on the grid. Which is totally fine, and Max is completely normal about. 100%, totally normal.

It’s his fucking cat instincts that seem to have a problem with them.

    Or:

In a world full of animal shifters, Max being able to turn into a cat shouldn't be that weird. It wouldn't be, if Jos hadn't spent Max's entire life convincing the world Max could turn into a lion and not a house cat. Now, Max is stuck wrangling both his cat instincts and six rookies while trying to not let the entire world find out his brand "Unleash the lion" is a lie.

Somehow, Charles is involved in all of this. Max isn't quite sure how.

Oscar's world narrowed to the corridor and the weight of his own body. Max's world narrowed to wish of not returning. They met in the white, sterile space between life and death, and it turned out they had exactly one summer to teach each other to how to live again.

    Summary

Human brains have this funny little quirk to them. They’re just so… adaptable, is the thing.

If you take a sad human, put a pencil in between their teeth to force the face into the facsimile of a smile, they will become happy.

When mothers see their babies for the first time, their brains rewire themselves to love them, no matter how ugly or gross or inconvenient. They have to, for survival.

Humans will change on a biological level based on how you treat them.

(The rookies will not stop calling Max “mom.”)
