It was getting pretty late, my shift was coming to an end, I knew I would be left alone from now on. The lack of proper sleep always hits me like a truck in those moments, and I start missing the feeling of the noisy springs of my mattress on my back. I went into one of the back rooms and sat between an empty bucket and some cardboard boxes to enjoy my well earned cigarette break. I could feel my eyes getting heavier with every new puff of smoke I took. My mind wandered far away from this place as Morpheus wrapped his arms around me against my will. My accidental nap was suddenly interrupted by Tyler slamming the door open, making my heart skip a few beats.
“Oh, here you are! I've been looking for you everywhere.” His stupid smile was wide, and his tuxedo wasn’t as well presented as it was when I helped him put it on earlier that evening.
The Narrator and Tyler take a break together in the tiny storage room of the Pressman Hotel...

Mori was sitting directly in front of his superiors desk while being scolded for the third time that month—this whole charade had become routine for the teacher. He knew his behavior and language was inappropriate, he knew he shouldn’t make the comments he did, but why would he give up on the fun when he had only ever been verbally reprimanded? “We’ve decided to put you on temporary unpaid leave.” The superior mentioned (which had been the only thing Mori actually comprehended).
Mori is sent on temporary leave due to inappropriate behavior with students, and he just so happens to run into one of those students one the way home.
