Nights like these, I like to drive. It's my answer for everything, to keep moving, to flee until I outpace my problems. Maybe then I could find solace in the brief moments it takes for them to catch back up.
But for now, my keys are in Marina's purse, and the alcohol in my system challenges the idea in the first place.

Summary
They had lost.
The hideout ship was destroyed, and Splatsville (soon to be the whole world) was under siege from hordes of unknown salmonid that they were completely unprepared for. But through some miracle, Deep Cut and the Mechanic managed to survive. Out of options, they called the only person they knew could help.
Their Boss, of course!
After some panicked regrouping, Deep Cut, the Squidbeak Splatoon, Off The Hook and the Mechanic ended up holing up in Splatsville. They're left managing a bunker for the survivors of salmon armeggedon. Time is of the essence. The more frenzied fish in Splatsville, the more destruction they'll wreak. It's up to them to find a way to fix this.TLDR: Apocalyptic post Raiders bad ending fic where everyone has to make/run a bunker for the survivors. Expect forced proximity, angst, resource management, and the struggle of having over 10 main characters to keep track of. I wrote this fic almost exclusively past midnight instead of going to bed

Okarun notices; he never doesn’t. He stands up and takes her arm to steady her. “Are you sure you’re alright?”
“I’ll be fine. Just might have to sit down in the shower.”
Okarun’s ears blush, the first telltale sign preceding his face going beet-red. “I could… help, if you want.” At Momo’s raised eyebrow, he splutters and blushes so dark she has to hold back a laugh. “Not like that! Nothing weird! I could just… run a bath and help you wash your hair. If— If you want. Only if you want, of course—”
“Okay.”

Momo and Okarun get a moment to recover after a run-in with the aliens. As always, they take care of each other.
