    His heart is hammering in his chest. This is wrong, this is so wrong, assuming the identity of his dead, alternate self in a seemingly post-apocalyptic hellhole of an Earth that is still somehow better than Peter’s own timeline—

    “I didn’t mean to.” Will says in a small voice.
    “I know buddy. I know. I don’t blame you. It’s not your fault. He was a bad guy anyway ok?” Dustin says reassuringly.
    Will shakes his head and looks down. Tears fall faster down his cheeks.

    “We need to get out of here. Find the others, ok?” Dustin leans over to catch Will’s gaze. Dustin helps him stand, the metal chair creaks slightly under the shift in weight. Dustin supports him around the waist and slings Will’s right arm around his shoulders. He bends down to snatch a keycard from the corpse on the floor.
    The pair awkwardly hobble to the door.
    Dustin presents the stolen card to the reader and waits for it to flash green.

    He opens the door slowly. It creaks, loud in the otherwise barren room.
    Dustin strains his neck and peaks down the hallway.
    Oh god.

    It's a bloodbath.
