JJ’s jaw dropped. Hayden let out a weird, choking sound. Troy started laughing, but it also sounded like he was crying. Wyatt and Cliff looked at each other, huge smiles taking over their faces.
“He’s who I had sex with this morning,” Shane continued, oblivious to the table’s reactions. “Twice.” He added cheerfully.

It was supposed to be a casual night out with friends - until, JJ and Hayden show up, with Shane (his secret boyfriend).
Shane is panicking, of course, so Ilya pours him some vodka, as an emergency option. This turns out to be a mistake. Lips get loose, and secrets are revealed.

A second, then a blur. Ilya knocking over one of the kitchen island stools to engulf Shane. His shaking frame holding Shane so tight, Shane felt himself shaking back. He could only hold on back, just as tightly.
“Please.” Came the strangled voice by his left ear. “Please, tell me.”
And who was Shane to ever deny a wish of Ilya Rozanov.
“I’m signing to Ottawa. Tomorrow. If you would want to come with.”
And then Ilya was shoving him back, holding him close to his face. “Of course. I drive. Of course I come.”
Or
Shane, fed up with Montreal, signs to Ottawa before their relationship is revealed. While he doesn't plan on keeping that a secret for long, he asks Ilya to let him get to know the team first, before they come out. To maybe have a normal season. Harris had an unofficial poll on a whiteboard in the media team’s office: Team Hollander vs Team Rozanov; something that apparently was never allowed to be revealed to the general public according to Harris’s strong warning the first time Wyatt had seen it. He had promptly and dramatically signed his name under Team Hollander, though he had to write small in the little space left. He had obviously landed up at the best team possible - at least when it came to being a fan of Shane Hollander.
Then Ilya Rozanov was traded to Ottawa.
Suddenly, Shane Hollander went from a Hockey God, whose presence Wyatt was graced with a few times a year, to the most talked about figure in the Centaurs locker room.

Objectively, this used to be true. Nowadays Shane has many, many plans, between his nightly plans to look at Ilya’s penis through Skype and his various long-term plans laid out helpfully in his notebook, Canva (For Ilya’s sake. He is a visual learner), and more recently, Excel. Shane loves that excel sheet. He’s colour coded it.
In 2017, Shane Hollander spirals and proposes to his boyfriend of 4 days (or 7 years, or 9 years, or not his boyfriend at all, depending on how you look at it), which leads to a lot of plans, weird theories in the Montreal Voyageur locker room, some Twitter drama, and Ilya Rozanov entering his WAG era.
