It felt like a whistling kettle going off inside his head. Ryan’s brain had completely short-circuited.
“Oh my God,” Steven’s laughing voice came from somewhere behind him. “Are you actually going to kiss him?”

Except, it turns out, Shane actually didn't kiss him at all. Not the way Ryan expected he would under the mistletoe. He should be relieved; chalk this up as Shane just being Shane and add it to the catalogue of eclectic things to expect from a friendship with the big guy.
