Six months after the war, with Harry Potter dead and the Malfoy name barely spared from Azkaban, Draco returns to Hogwarts for a memorial ceremony he has no intention of attending. She is supposed to be a swotty, bushy-haired, skinny, book-obsessed, grade-chasing, overemotional, desperate little people-pleaser. That’s what everyone expects. That’s what everyone wants. It doesn’t matter that she’s been through a war, had likely carried her two Gryffindor parasites through every battle, had been the most wanted Muggleborn in Britain. Everyone wants Hermione Granger in a box and now they are shocked and irate to find she no longer fits.
