Summary
Carlos was fully aware Cecil possessed not so human qualities about him. There had been times when he caught Cecil’s shadow moving when Cecil was otherwise stationary (Cecil had been reading a book upside down while his shadow did odd cryptic interpretive dances beside him). Sometimes, Carlos would get a glimpse of eyes appearing on different places of Cecil’s body. One purple eye that manifested right in the middle of Cecil’s forehead actually had the gall to mischievously wink at him, only to glare down at its owner when Cecil had leaned down to kiss him on the cheek before he left for work.

“Who are you wearing?” Geralt asked, as the Bard followed him out of Posada.
“Oh,” Jaskier laughed. “You noticed, did you? Just as expected from a Witcher.” He smoothed the collar of his tunic. “I believe he was a Viscount or somesuch near Lettenhove … long dead now, though I have no great interest in traveling back there. Wouldn’t want to give some poor kid a scare, seeing the face of his long-dead relative.”
“Hm,” Geralt said. It didn’t worry him that the doppler would make mischief, as he seemed well-intentioned enough. The bigger mystery was still why he chose to follow Geralt.
“I’ve been wearing him so long, sometimes I forget that I’m not human,” Jaskier said cheerfully, his fingers tapping on his lute. “Then a pretty noblewoman strokes my face with her fingers full of silver rings and … hooboy. That was not a good night.”

Summary
Despite Jaskier's hard work, there are still plenty of people who hate witchers. They think they're monstrous, inhuman, only held back from violence by a thin veneer of control. One mage has a plan to spread his views by capturing a witcher and bewitching them to remove their control. When the Butcher of Blaviken walks into his hideout, he's convinced he's found the perfect candidate - and a convenient way to get rid of the pesky bard that's been singing his praises.
Jaskier is forced to agree witchers are not human, but that doesn't mean they're dangerous. In fact, he's astounded by how many of Geralt's uncontrolled impulses involve touching.
