Flins sees the ghosts behind those pleading eyes, the shadows he tries to bathe in light, to pretend his lantern could drown them out rather than push them further into the corners of his mind. And he knows the stories, knows the haunted past that Illuga doesn’t like to talk about, the reason Flins’ answer matters.
He settles on a simple, yet vague truth.
“I am… not so easily killed,” he admits.
“If you’re lying to me,” Illuga says. “I will summon you from the grave and kill you myself.”

“Apologies, Young Master. It was not my intent to disturb you,” Flins says. He’s sitting gracefully in Illuga’s favorite chair, having dragged it from the living room to the foot of his bed. “But, you called my name.”

"Kind of scrawny, aren't you?" Ajaw says suddenly, scrutinising Kinich from head to toe. "No wonder you don't have any children."
Kinich, who considers himself used to all the nonsense that falls from Ajaw's dragon mouth, is taken aback. "How are those two things remotely related?"—and then instantly wishes he didn't ask.
Ajaw slaps Kinich's belly with a phlogiston paw. "Look at this!" he cries. "It's all concave! You can't hold any eggs in here. And this," he adds, zipping to Kinich's arm and holding it aloft. "There's no meat, you've got sticks for limbs, tch! You can't feed any children like this."
Kinich feels as if his mind ran to catch up, but then tripped and fell into a giant hole of Wait what did he say!? "Eggs," he repeats. "Children."
"Don't even think about having mine." Ajaw sniffs disdainfully.

Memories of *her*, of what he thought and felt about her, of what he wanted to do with her. TO her. The obsession. The hunger. The sickness.

Summary
Golden Cheese's self-image is attacked. For the first (and hopefully only) time ever, she actually feels it.
To add insult to injury, it came from the sloppy, drunken mouth of her sloppy, drunk boyfriend. To further insult her, when the next day comes, he insists that he doesn't recall saying a single word to her.
When the memory eventually returns to him... Well, at least he's apologetic. And more than willing to try to atone for his sins.

Summary
Greed comes in many forms. Greed for delicious food, greed for riches, greed for power, greed for time.
Greed for attention. Greed for knowledge.
Burning Spice appears to be terminally ill with the former. Somehow, Golden Cheese finds herself struck with the latter.
For once, she possesses a greed that she knows to well and truly be a vice; one that wouldn't bring her any peace even if she satisfied it. But... she's never been strong enough to ignore her own greed. Not even now. Not even for this.
Just... just what is it that he wants from her, exactly?

Summary
Perhaps he could have been more... polite, in his refusal of her touch, at least the first few times. He simply saw a hand wrapped in green approaching his face and he responded. The regret that washed over him at the sound of her yelp - startled and pained, a tragic accessory to the tremor in her wrist born from him grasping it so tight - was overwhelming, almost suffocating, and yet... he did it again, the next attempt she made. And the one after that, and the one after that.
Nevertheless, for reasons unknown, she persisted.
Must have been that morbid curiosity of hers.

Now having achieved eternal union in every other way imaginable, Destruction and Abundance come to share a desire for something novel, something unique; a grand and brand new expression and cultivation of their love.
But, joy and anticipation sadly come shadowed by fear and doubt - at least for one. Gripped tightly by both, Destruction turns to an old, unlikely, unconventional solution.

The Wanderer thinks of her timid, lost expression and quiet uncertainty, the way she held herself as though she were not yet unfamiliar with moving in her physical form. He snorts. What a ridiculous request.
“…You know how I am,” The Wanderer replies, meeting their gaze with a frown. “No promises.”
The Traveler merely smiles at him, turning back around. “Right. Well, I’ll leave you to it.”
“Hm.”
Nahida temporarily loses most of her memory, and the Wanderer is tasked with supervising her until she recovers.

Summary
When she dared to imagine it, she thought her return to society would be a triumph. She’d finally meet her people, and they would see her for who she was and they would know she cared about them and then they would care about her. They’d realize that she’s been right here this whole time, trying to help them as best she could, and then they would love her like all the information tucked away inside her says they used to.
But this isn’t Nahida’s imagination, so instead of going and doing something actually helpful, she’s hiding in a mostly-forgotten storage room deep in the Akademiya.

A birthday party? Nahida can already imagine it: a thousand sparkling lights, sweet-smelling perfume, good food and maybe even a dance floor. People whirling past each other, skirts flaring out and scarves and sashes tied around waists flicking this way and that way. A chandelier high up above, reflecting off the tiles below, so clean she could see her reflection in them.
It sounds like a dream.
But… Nahida looks down. “We can’t, we weren’t invited. And besides, I don’t do well with birthdays.”
Some things are just not meant for her.
The smile on Venti’s face dies and he stares at her before his expression turns determined. “Nonsense,” he says, slamming his mug down.
He doesn’t let her protest as he drags her out of the tavern.
