He had thought his destiny was intertwined with the Avatar's and the spirits had laughed at his foolishness. It was up to him to discover his own path, in the end.Or: Zuko left after saving Aang and his friends from Combustion Man because he knew he wasn't really wanted and sets off on his own to discover how to help the world recover from a century of war. He did not really intend to become a spirit-figure along the way.

Yugo groaned in frustration, rolling his eyes and staying where he was. It's not like he could really get up anyway. If he could, then maybe he really would do what they were whispering, maybe he would listen to that temptation. Return to his Doufu's and let himself be in the care of his mother, his brother, and his family. The temptation was honestly growing more appealing, he could escape the ache of his bones if he did this. If he got up and jumped, would he do it? The thought was more terrifying than he would like to admit. Would he really jump? He can't confidently say that he wouldn't jump, but he can't say that he would jump either.
