It was barely dawn when the phone rang, slicing through the fog of Chuuya’s sleep. He didn’t know why he sat up immediately, why something deep inside him leapt awake with a jolt of unease. There was a tug in his gut, cold and insistent, warning him that something was wrong, that he needed to pay attention.
He answered before he could think.
Mori’s voice came through, precise and cutting, each word falling like shards of ice. “As of last night, Dazai Osamu has left the Port Mafia of his own volition.”
Chuuya’s lips parted, but no sound escaped.

What Kaito was good at was loving and trusting and supporting. He lived to energize everyone around him, and seemed to engender friendship in anyone who wasn't Kokichi Oma.
And that's what made the punishment so good. See, Kokichi was one of the only people in their dorm that Kaito seemed to actively despise, which made forcing him to act all sweet and loving especially funny. Thus the dare:
"You have to pretend to date me for three days!"
