Ren is a weapon. An Eighth Generation Anti Shadow Weapon, to be specific. A stealth unit developed by the Kirijo Group in the aftermath of the Moonlight Bridge.
But Ren had also, once, been human. He's sure he had been, he can almost, almost remember being someone else, being human, having friends and a life and a home that smells vaguely of curry.
He doesn't particularly care if everyone else says those memories are impossible. He knows who he is.

The air smelled like blood and metal and rot, the stench powerful enough to work its way through the filters of the expedition team's respirators, but the stink was not as bad as the sound, a near sub-audible vibration that lay behind the walls and nestled in the vents and wires. That vibration worked its way under the skin of the expedition team and shattered the resolve of half of them like a jackhammer against concrete. They peeled off the main group and made for the exit a mile above where the rear guard waited in the frozen dark, subsisting on a newly claimed cache of six-year-old coffee and spite. The remaining three continued on, with the sound of their boots echoing off the walls.
Ignis searches for a way to save his king's life and is drawn to the long-sealed Magitek Research Facility A019. He explores its secret depths and finds a stranger who promises him everything. Meanwhile, an unscheduled train arrives in Insomnia bringing a group of otherworldly travelers to the haunted, sleepless city.

Here he was, in the back room of a bar somewhere in Hiroshima, getting his impossibly swollen pecs milked not unlike a cow, lactating in the first place because he loved his grandson too much. It was probably the single strangest thing that had ever happened to him. Or, no, maybe not. But definitely in the top five.

He was just lucky he had caught his reflection in a nearby trickling stream before he wandered back into the busier parts of town. It had taken him a few moments to really understand what he was seeing, though, because it appeared as if his ears had become those a cow's. Floppy and fluffy, the same colour black as his hair. Small horns sat nestled upon his head, and just when he thought the surprises were over, his tail swished into view.

Naoki wondered why everyone assumed he was a demon when he still looked like a human. The only big difference he could see were the weird tattoos... Was it the pattern? He half turned in front of the hospital’s bathroom mirror trying to get a better look at his back and the...horn? Spinal growth? He tapped it with his finger, it felt like some kind of stone. Were all his bones like that now?
“Didn't take you for someone who liked to admire themselves,” Pixie chirped getting kinda bored waiting for him to finish.
He glanced at her, mumbling “I look human...”
Scenes that illustrate some of the conflict and confusion a new half demon might experience, meaning that Pixie has a big role as the one who explains a lot of demon stuff to the demi-fiend.
A lot of this is me projecting my own morality and thoughts about the Nocturne world, but with a nice helping of Pixie being a good partner through the vortex world. It'll probably touch on every major event and/or character in the game.Bookmarked by QualityPeets
